Walnut Cake

Ingredients:

Walnut Cake

  • 12 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 3 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) brandy
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cloves

Syrup:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 lemon

Directions:

  1. Beat eggs separately and then fold together.
  2. Add sugar, breadcrumbs, walnuts, brandy, cinnamon, cloves, and baking powder.
  3. Pour into buttered 9 x13-inch pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  5. Boil syrup ingredients about 5 minutes; cool.
  6. Pour syrup onto hot cake.

Makes 20 servings.
