Power Partnership Programs
Hawaiian Electric is partnering with independent companies to provide grid services on Oahu, Maui County and Hawaii Island. When a customer signs up with one of our Power Partners, they will manage the customer's system activity to support the utility’s need to balance electricity supply and demand. In return, the customer is rewarded with monthly bill credits to help reduce their electricity bill.

For example, if a customer from Oahu enrolls 1kW on all the grid services with Shifted Energy, they could earn:
- Fast Frequency Response: 1kW * $5=$5
- Capacity Build: 1kW * $3 = $3
- Capacity Reduction: 1kW * $5=$5
A total of $13 in savings would be applied to their bill every month to reduce outstanding electric payments.
How the programs works:
- Customers that own a water heater or battery inquires with a power partner.
- Customer meets with the partner to discuss their eligibility.
- Customer signs up for the partner’s program.
- Power partner manages the device for the customer.
- Customer receives monthly bill credit incentives for participation.
