We do our best to keep the lights on for all of our customers, but those on life support can require extra attention. Hawaiian Electric keeps records of which customers require power for important life support devices and we can take special care of these customers when it comes to billing assistance.
If a billing issue arises, extra steps are taken to assist customers enrolled in our Life Support Program. We evaluate on a case-by-case basis to find solutions that meet our Life Support customers' unique needs. Workers are dispatched to their homes to assess their critical care situation and discuss the next steps. When at risk of being disconnected, advanced notice is given to allow time for other accommodations to be made.
How to Enroll
To apply, please fill out the form, get a licensed physician's signature and submit it to us by regular mail or in person. Please do not submit electronically. We will review each application for completeness and may need to verify that the applicant lives primarily at the service address.
