  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup poppy or sesame seed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Preheat electric oven to 350°F. Lightly grease or spray baking sheets. In large bowl of electric mixer, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and poppy or sesame seed. Heat butter and buttermilk; add to flour mixture and mix well. Form dough into 3 or 4 balls and roll each ball into a 12-inch cylinder. Place each cylinder on a prepared baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Flatten each cylinder and roll to 1/16-inch thickness. Using a pizza cutter, cut each sheet into strips, or desired serving pieces. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Make 3 to 4 sheets.
