Ingredients:

Kalo Burgers

  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds ground turkey (may substitute with fish, chicken or venison)
  • 1/2 cup onion
  • 1/4 cup green onion
  • 4 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup water chestnuts
  • 2 cups cooked diced kalo (taro) or according to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Place ingredients into a bowl and mix together well.
  2. In a frying pan, add oil and heat on medium.
  3. Form patties and cook in pan.

Makes 8 servings.

Tip: To cook taro is very easy and similar to cooking potatoes. Scrub the taro root under running water. Using a vegetable peeler, peel skin off and cut into quarters or 2-inch chunks. Fill a medium pot with water with a little salt and boil. Add taro and boil for approximately 15 minutes or until cooked. Test with a fork to check for tenderness. When cooked to desired doneness, drain in a colander over sink.
