Gyudon (Japanese Beef Bowl)

Ingredients:

Gyudon (Japanese Beef Bowl)

  • 3/4 cup Mentsuyu (soup base; available in Asian section)
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 6 ounces thinly sliced beef, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 3/4 large onion, thinly sliced

Directions:

  1. In a medium pot on medium heat, combine soup base, mirin and water, bring to a boil.
  2. Add beef and sliced onions and reduce heat to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Serve beef and onion mixture over hot rice.

Serves 2.
