Demonstrated by: Kit Low - Narcissus Queen.
Narcissus Festival - January 1, 1999.

Dau Lau

  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup finely chopped roasted peanuts
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 lb no mei fun or mochiko (glutinous rice flour)
  • 1 3/4 cups water

Combine coconut, peanuts, and sugar; mix well. In a bowl, combine flour and water, adding only enough water to make a stiff dough. Roll dough into 1-inch balls. In a saucepot, bring water to a boil. Drop 6 to 8 balls into boiling water. Cook until dough floats to the surface, about 3 minutes; remove and roll in coconut mixture. Repeat until all dough is cooked and coated. Makes about 5 dozen.
