Ingredients:

Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cake flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chunks (chopped from bar)

Directions:

  1. Brown butter by melting in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Simmer until butter starts to turn a warm amber color, about 2 minutes after it has melted.
  3. Do not over brown.
  4. Pour butter into a mixing bowl, cover, and cool in refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine flours, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, and mix well.
  6. When butter is cooled, add sugars and cream together for 4 minutes.
  7. Mix in egg and vanilla.
  8. Add flour mixture until just combined.
  9. Mix in chocolate chips and chocolate chunks.
  10. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (overnight is better).
  11. Let cookie dough come to room temperature after it has been chilled, so cookies will spread.
  12. Heat oven to 375°F.
  13. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  14. Scoop cookie dough onto cookie sheets.
  15. Bake until lightly golden on edges, about 10 minutes.

Makes 24 cookies.
