Poi Mochi

Ingredients:

Poi Mochi

  • 1 pound of poi
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 packages (10-ounces each) mochiko flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 quart canola oil for frying

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except oil; mix well.
  2. Over medium-high heat in a large pan or wok, heat oil for frying.
  3. Drop the poi mixture by the teaspoon into the oil and deep fry until slightly crisp (1-2 minutes).
  4. Remove and drain mochi on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Make 3 dozen pieces.
