Poi Mochi

Poi Mochi

  • 1 (1-pound) bag of poi
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 boxes (10-ounces each) mochiko flour
  • 11/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 quart canola oil for frying


In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except oil; mix well. Over medium-high heat in a large pan or wok, heat oil for frying. Drop the poi mixture by the teaspoon into the oil and deep fry until slightly crisp (1-2 minutes). Remove and drain mochi on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Make 3 dozen pieces.
