Ingredients:

Shoyu Chicken

  • 1 whole chicken (about 2.5 pounds) (you can substitute with thighs, drumsticks or breast meat)
  • 2 cups soy sauce
  • 11/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup green onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons ginger, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

  1. Place all of the ingredients in slow cooker, cover and cook (turning chicken over once halfway through the time) on HIGH for 3-4 hours or LOW for 6-7 hours.
  2. Frozen chicken may be used by adjusting the cooking time to HIGH for 5 hours and LOW for 8 hours.

Makes 4 servings.
