Ingredients:
Moku’s Simple Beef Stew
Try this delicious recipe from the Electric Kitchen!
2 tablespoons olive oil
6 pounds stew meat
1 1/2 tablespoons Hawaiian salt
3 large onions, chopped
4-6 stalks celery, chopped
8-10 cups water
4-6 bay leaves
1 beef bouillon cube
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
4 large carrots, chopped into 1-inch pieces
2 large potatoes, chopped
5 tablespoons each corn starch and water to make a slurry
Directions:
In a large pot, heat oil on medium-high heat; add meat and Hawaiian salt and brown on all sides.
Add onions and celery and brown, about 5-7 minutes.
Add water, bay leaves, bouillon cube and tomato sauce; increase heat and bring to a rapid boil; lower heat and boil until meat is fork-soft, about 2 hours.
Skim fat and adjust seasonings if needed.
Add carrots and cook for about 10-15 minutes; add potatoes and cook for about 10-15 minutes; add slurry to thicken as desired.
Serve with rice and macaroni salad.
Serves 12.
