Critical Facilities

Critical facilities are service providers or infrastructure vital in maintaining public safety, health and well-being during a power outage that require uninterrupted power supply to ensure the continuity of their service. Examples include hospitals, police, fire stations, emergency response systems, water treatment plants, water, communications, and military installations.

During a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event, we aim to minimize the impact to these important entities as much as possible and to send early warning notifications via phone calls, text alerts, and emails before turning off power.

Critical Sites Require Extra Preparation

Facilities designated as critical often need extra preparation time ahead of PSPS events. Those recognized as Critical Facilities may get extra advance notices prior to any shutoff beginning.

Having an accurate list of emergency contacts is vital so the facilities can be reached before, during, and after a PSPS. If your organization is considered a Critical Facility, please reach out to our Commercial Client Services team.
