Warabi And Sardines

  • 20 stalks warabi (fern shoots)
  • 2 cans (3.75 oz size) sardines, including oil
  • 2 round onions, sliced crosswise
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar


Wash, clean, and cut warabi into 1 1/2-inch lengths. In a skillet, lightly fry onions in the sardine oil; add sardines. Combine soy sauce and sugar; slowly add to sardine mixture. Add warabi; cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
