Tuna Tofu Patties

  • 3 cans (6-ounces each) tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 container medium-firm tofu (14-ounces), mashed (you may use a food processor, potato masher or fork)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup green onions, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup plain dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 small Hawaiian red chili peppers, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

  1. In a large bowl, stir together all of the ingredients except the oil until everything is combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 12 medium-sized patties.
  3. In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Working in batches, cook patties until golden brown and crisp on the outside (about 2 minutes per side).
  5. Drain excess oil from patties on paper towels and serve.
