Tangy Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:

Tangy Sloppy Joes

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped red or green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 hamburger buns

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  2. Cook ground beef until browned, drain excess oil, then add onions, pepper and celery.
  3. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Lower heat to medium.
  5. In a small bowl, combine ketchup, vinegar, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and salt.
  6. Stir into beef mixture and let simmer uncovered for 20 minutes.
  7. Add mixture to hamburger buns and serve.

Serves 6.
