Spicy Mulled Cider

Spicy Mulled Cider

  • 3 cups sweet apple cider
  • 4 whole star anise pods
  • 1/2teaspoon whole allspice berries (found at local health food stores and some supermarkets)
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 5-inch cinnamon sticks
  • 4 white cardamom pods, cracked (found at local health food stores)
  • 2 slices of orange, quartered
  • 2 slices of lemon, quartered


  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a low simmer.
  2. Lower the heat and continue to simmer gently for 30 minutes; strain.
  3. Ladle into four mugs and serve steaming hot.

Makes 4 servings.
