Pupu-Style Spareribs

Ingredients:

Pupu-Style Spareribs

  • 5 pounds spareribs
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 large piece ginger root, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup oyster sauce

Directions:

  1. Cut spareribs into 1 1/2-inch pieces.
  2. In a large sauce pot, combine spareribs, garlic, ginger, and salt.
  3. Add water to cover spareribs, bring to a boil, lower heat, and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until spareribs are tender.
  4. Drain.
  5. Combine remaining ingredients and marinate spareribs in sauce overnight in the refrigerator.
  6. Place spareribs on rack of broiler pan and broil 3 inches from unit in electric oven for 7 to 10 minutes, basting with remaining sauce.
  7. Turn and broil for 5 to 7 more minutes.

Makes 15 to 20 servings.

My family and friends absolutly love these. This is my favorite rib recipe! Always use the oyster sauce and let them marinate overnight. Just put them back on the grill about 25 minutes prior to eating and ladle some of the marinade over them to really get a finger licking goodness flavor coating!
