Ingredients:

Ombre Grapefruit Soda

  • Pink or red colored sugar
  • 2 cups grapefruit juice, chilled
  • 1 can clear carbonated soda, chilled
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup
  • 4 teaspoons of Grenadine
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Dip the tops of champagne glasses in a plate of water.
  2. Then dip the wet glass top in the colored sugar to line the rims.
  3. Add 1/2 cup grapefruit juice and 2 tablespoons simple syrup to each glass.
  4. Top off each glass with soda and drop a teaspoon of grenadine into glass.
  5. Do not stir until after served.

Makes 4 servings.

Tip: When making large batches of punch mix the base (not the carbonated beverage or ice) ahead of time. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours before serving.

Tip: To add some flare to your punch bowl, make an ice ring in a fluted cake pan. To make sure your ice ring doesn’t dilute the punch as it melts, use more punch than water in the pan. Mix in some sliced lemons, cherries or mint for added drama and freeze overnight.
