New Year Kicker

  • 1/2 cup plain whole milk yogurt, gelatin free
  • 1 medium English or Japanese cucumber, peeled, seeded, and diced
  • 1/4 cup finely minced red onion
  • 1 medium ripe avocado (Haas variety), peeled and diced
  • 1 large ripe tomato (or 2 small tomatoes), peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped mint or cilantro leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Puree cantaloupe, vinegar, and honey in a blender.
  2. Strain into a measuring cup or bowl, press on solids; discard solids.
  3. Divide among 4 highball glasses filled with ice and add 2-3 ounces club soda to each.
  4. Garnish with cantaloupe wedges.

Makes 4 servings.
