Maze Gohan (rice mixed with nametake and ochazuke wakame)

Ingredients:

Maze Gohan (rice mixed with nametake and ochazuke wakame)

  • 5 rice cooker measuring cups white rice
  • 1 bottle (1.8 ounces) ochazuke wakame (Japanese seaweed and rice cracker mix - available in the Asian food section of any supermarket
  • 1 bottle (7.05 ounces) nametake (Japanese seasoned mushrooms)—available in the Asian food section of any supermarket
  • 3/4 cup frozen peas or frozen shelled edamame (soybeans)

Directions:

  1. Cook rice in rice cooker.
  2. Place hot cooked rice in a large bowl.
  3. Sprinkle ochazuke wakame over rice.
  4. Fold in nametake.
  5. Place frozen peas or edamame and a little water in a microwave oven-safe small bowl; cook in the microwave for about 1 minute; drain water and add peas or edamame to rice mixture.

Makes 10 servings.
