Five-spice Marinated Chicken

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 shallots, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons five spice powder
  • 6 large skinless boneless chicken thighs


In a small bowl, mix first 6 ingredients together and put into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch-baking dish. Add chicken; turn to coat. Let marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Turn often. Preheat broiler. Broil chicken about 6 minutes per side until juices run clear. Cut into slices for banh mi and serve. Makes 6 servings.
