Chocolate Chai Toddy

Ingredients:

Chocolate Chai Toddy

  • 4 tea bags containing black tea
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 8 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • Whipped cream
  • Additional ground nutmeg
  • 8 mini candy canes

Directions:

  1. Pour the boiling water over tea bags in a large saucepan.
  2. Cover and let stand 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags.
  4. Stir in sugar and cocoa powder.
  5. Cook and stir over medium heat just until mixture comes to boiling.
  6. Stir in milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg; heat through.
  7. Do not boil.
  8. Pour into cups.
  9. Top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream sprinkled with nutmeg.
  10. Insert candy canes for stirrers.

Makes 8 servings.
