Burmese Chicken Salad

Featured in the September 2016 Hookui. 



Burmese Chicken Salad

  • 2 cups shredded roasted or poached chicken
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 2 Hawaiian chili peppers; deseeded and thinly sliced
  • 2 fresh shallots, sliced
  • 3 teaspoons calamansi lime juice
  • 3 teaspoons fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons fried shallots
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


  1. Place all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl and gently toss with hands.
  2. Season with salt and pepper to taste, keeping in mind fish sauce is salty.

Serves 2.
