Barbequed Spareribs

Ingredients:

Barbecued Spareribs

  • 3 pounds spareribs
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup chili sauce

Directions:

  1. Cut spareribs into serving pieces.
  2. In a saucepot, heat oil on medium-high heat; add ribs and brown.
  3. In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients and pour over ribs.
  4. Simmer 1 hour.

Serves 6.

I use this with my cooking class with 6-8 graders, and everyone loves it. After frying the ribs and adding the sauce and letting them simmer for 10-15 mins, we put it all in baking pans covered with foil to bake in a 350 oven for at least 20-30 min or longer. We serve them with our delicious, made-from-scratch mashed potatoes for a real feast. All time favorite request and very easy!
