Apple Dapple Cake

Ingredients:

Apple Dapple Cake

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups chopped apples (about 3 apples)
  • 2 cup chopped pecans, optional
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Directions:

  1. Preheat electric oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour a 9-inch bundt pan.
  3. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream sugar, eggs and oil.
  4. Mix in remaining ingredients, except Caramel Sauce.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan; bake for 1 hour.
  6. Before serving, top each piece with Caramel Sauce.

Makes 12 servings.

Caramel Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter; add sugar and bring to a boil.
  2. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in cream.
  4. Makes about 3 cups.
