Ingredients:
Andagi (Okinawan Doughnut)
Try this delicious recipe from the Electric Kitchen!
- Salad oil for deep frying
- 4 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups raw sugar
- 1/2 cup instant non-fat dry milk
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons salad oil
- 1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla
- 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
Directions:
- Heat oil to 375ºF.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, dry milk, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine remaining ingredients.
- Add to dry ingredients and mix until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Drop dough by spoonfuls or by hand into hot oil; fry until golden brown; drain on paper towels.
Makes 5 dozen andagi.

I am 100% Okinawan and this is the BEST recipe ever!
My mother would always make andagi on the spur of the moment, if any unexpected guests would drop in. I was not able to get her recipe because she did not measure the ingredients.
I found this recipe about 5 years ago, and have been using it and sharing it with others.
I especially love how it "blossoms."
