HONOLULU, July 26, 2019 – Contractors for Hawaiian Electric will be installing new underground electrical equipment on Mott Smith Drive in Makiki as part of the companyʻs ongoing infrastructure improvements to build resilience.

The work is scheduled for nine weeks, Monday – Friday only, starting Monday, July 29, thru Monday, Sept. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The work will require traffic to be contraflowed on Mott Smith Drive between Nehoa Street and Luna Place.

Message boards, safety signs and traffic cones will alert drivers ahead of the work zone. Special duty police and flagmen will provide traffic control.

Motorists should drive with caution when approaching and passing the area as there may be temporary stops to allow vehicles through the contraflow lane.
