HONOLULU, Sept. 26, 2019 – Hawaiian Electric crews will be installing new utility poles and performing maintenance work on existing poles along Halawa Heights Road and Puumakani Street as part of ongoing distribution system upgrades in central Oahu to improve grid reliability.
The work will require traffic to be contraflowed to one lane on Halawa Heights Road between Kealaluina Drive and the intersection with Puumakani Street on Monday, Sept. 30, Thursday, Oct. 3, and Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
On Friday, Oct. 4, the work also will require a contra flow lane on Puumakani Street just past the Sunset Lanai lounge to the intersection with Halawa Heights Road.
Safety signs and traffic cones will alert drivers ahead of the work zones. Parking barricades will be set up to mark the area. Also, special duty police and flagmen will be onsite for traffic control. Motorists should drive with caution when approaching and passing the work sites.
