Hawaiian Electric utility work on Moanalua Road in Aiea
Daytime lane closures to continue into next week
Release Date: 11/16/2017
HONOLULU, Nov. 16, 2017 - Hawaiian Electric Company continues its work to replace two 138-kilovolt transmission line poles along Moanalua Road in Aiea, across from the Waimalu Elementary School.
While nighttime work continues through Dec. 1, the daytime foundation work has been extended into early next week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding weekend days. Rock in the area has impeded drilling.
The construction area is along Moanalua Road, west of the intersection of Kaahele Street. For the safety of the public and the crews, the two westbound lanes of traffic and the adjacent sidewalk in the construction area will be closed during work hours. Westbound traffic will be contraflowed onto the middle turning lane.
Patrons will continue to have access to parking lots for businesses in the area.
Traffic signs, control measures, and special-duty police officers are helping to control traffic on Moanalua Road.
Hawaiian Electric wants to advise the public about this continued work and apologizes for any inconvenience.
