Hawaiian Electric utility work on Makakilo Drive to affect parking, traffic starting Monday
Work scheduled 6 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Sept. 13-15, 20-22

HONOLULU, Sept. 9, 2021 – Hawaiian Electric crews will be replacing utility poles along Makakilo Drive between Panana Street and Kanehoa Loop from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 13-15, and also 20-22.
The work to improve system reliability will occur 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. as follows:
Tuesdays, Sept. 14 & 21: Both mauka-bound lanes of Makakilo Drive between Panana and Kanehoa will be closed. Traffic will only be contraflowed in the makai-bound lanes on Sept. 14. There will be no parking in the work zone on both sides of Makakilo Drive.
Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 13 & 15, Sept. 20 & 22: Parking will not be allowed in the work zone on Makakilo Drive, mauka-bound.
Parking will reopen on all workdays after crews leave.
Electronic message boards will alert motorists to the work. Traffic signs, cones and parking barricades will mark the work zones. Flagmen and special duty police officers will be on-site to direct traffic. Motorists should slow down and exercise caution when approaching and passing the area.
