Hawaiian Electric utility work on Hobron Lane starting Wednesday includes lane closure Oct. 20-23

HONOLULU, Oct. 9, 2020 – Hawaiian Electric contractors will be laying the foundation for a new steel pole on Hobron Lane in Waikiki starting Wednesday, Oct. 14, to Friday, Nov. 6, as part of ongoing efforts to improve reliability in the area.
From Tuesday, Oct. 20, to Friday, Oct. 23, the right westbound lane of Hobron Lane at Lipeepee Street will be closed and traffic contraflowed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flagmen will direct vehicles. The sidewalk in the vicinity will be closed for the duration of the project.
The work also will restrict parking on Hobron Lane fronting Hobron Park to Lipeepee Street, a small section of both sides of Lipeepee Street heading makai, and both sides of Hobron Lane between Lipeepee Street and Ena Road from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily except weekends and holidays.
The sidewalk near the Eaton Square customer parking will be closed and pedestrians rerouted for the duration of the project. Vehicles will still be able to access the parking lot and mall, with modifications.
Safety measures include parking barricades and traffic cones to mark the work zones. Motorists should drive with caution when approaching and passing the area, or seek alternate routes.
