Hawaiian Electric utility work on Farrington Highway, Kapolei
Work will require a single-lane closure on Mar. 20 & 21
Release Date: 3/7/2018
HONOLULU, Mar. 7, 2018 - Hawaiian Electric Company crews and contractors will be upgrading power distribution equipment on Farrington Highway between the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill and Kahe Power Plant. For the safety of motorists, one lane of traffic in the westbound direction will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, Mar. 20 and 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
During work hours, the right lane of Farrington Highway in the westbound direction will be closed for a short stretch in the work area. Crews will be installing a new utility pole and also replacing an existing utility pole.
This work was originally scheduled on Mar. 6 and 7. However, it was postponed because crews were not able to de-energize the power lines in the area without interrupting electric service to customers.
Traffic signs will be used to advise motorists of the upcoming lane closure. During the work, traffic control measures and special-duty police officers will help to direct traffic.
Hawaiian Electric wants to advise the public about this lane closure and apologizes for any inconvenience.
