Hawaiian Electric urgent utility pole replacement will close a portion of Likelike Highway traffic
Work is scheduled on Jan. 10
Release Date: 1/9/2019
HONOLULU, Jan. 9, 2019 - Hawaiian Electric Company crews will replace a utility pole along Likelike Highway near Emmeline Place in Honolulu, on Thursday, Jan. 10. Because the pole supports power lines that cross over all lanes of Likelike Highway, the highway will be completely closed in that area, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kaneohe-bound motorists may detour through Kalihi Valley; however, Honolulu-bound motorists must take an alternate route. Therefore motorists are advised to use the H-3 Freeway or Pali Highway.
Kaneohe-bound motorists will be stopped at Nalanieha Street, at which point they may detour though Kalihi Valley and rejoin Likelike Highway at Valley View Drive. Access into and out of Emmeline Place can be coordinated with special-duty police officers.
In Kaneohe, heading to Honolulu, Likelike Highway will be completely closed after the H-3 exit to Honolulu.
Traffic signs, control measures, flagmen, and special-duty police officers will help direct traffic on Likelike Highway.
