Hawaiian Electric equipment upgrades in Manoa to continue Monday through Thursday

HONOLULU, Apr 1, 2021 - Hawaiian Electric crews will be continuing to replace utility equipment in Manoa from Monday, April 5, to Thursday, April 8, as part of planned upgrades to improve area system reliability. Crews are expected to return to some locations throughout the month while the equipment undergoes testing.

Lane closures and restricted parking will affect portions of Manoa Road, East Manoa Road and Woodlawn Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and traffic contraflowed:

  • Monday, April 5 – A portion of the far right, northbound lane of Manoa Road before Olopua Street (fronting Manoa Elementary School), and the southbound lane of East Manoa Road between Napuaa Place and Kahaloa Drive will be closed.

  • Tuesday, April 6 – The northbound lane of Manoa Road between Olopua and Pawaina streets and between Poelua Street and Peneku Place will be closed.

  • Wednesday, April 7 – The southbound lane of Woodlawn Drive near Seaview Rise will be closed. Crews also will be working on Seaview Rise between Woodlawn Drive and Paty Drive.

  • Thursday, April 8 – Crews will be working on Waipuna Rise between Woodlawn Drive and Alani Drive.

Traffic cones will mark contraflow lanes and barricades will indicate restricted parking zones. Special duty police and flagmen will provide traffic control. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and expect minor traffic delays in these areas.
