Hawaii Electric Light requests customers’ kokua following Dec. 14 drop box theft in Hilo
Customers who dropped off payments between 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, asked to call customer service

HILO, Dec. 28, 2018 – As part of Hawaii Electric Light Company's investigation into the theft of payments at its Kilauea Avenue drop box, the company requests that customers who dropped off payments between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, call Customer Service at (808) 969-6999. Video surveillance shows a man prying the box open late Friday evening, Dec. 14.
Customers who made a payment at the drop box outside the main office at 1200 Kilauea Avenue between 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, are asked to call Customer Service at (808) 969-6999 to check the status of your payment.
The company is working with authorities to investigate the incident.
As a reminder, customers should not place cash payments in the drop box.
