Dila-Dila (Mochi Dessert)

Ingredients:

Dila-Dila (Mochi Dessert)

  • 2 cups mochiko (glutinous rice flour)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Dash of salt
  • 3/4 to 1 cup water
  • 2 cups freshly grated coconut
  • Sugar
  • Sesame seed

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine mochiko, the 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Slowly add enough water to make a stiff dough.
  3. Bring a pot of water to a boil.
  4. Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls; flatten each ball into a patty.
  5. Drop several pieces at a time into boiling water; cook until patties float.
  6. Remove and place in colander.
  7. Run under cold water to cool; drain.
  8. Coat with coconut.
  9. Repeat until all are cooked.
  10. Before serving, sprinkle with sugar and sesame seed.

Makes 8 servings.
