Corporate donations support West Oahu holiday festivities

Contributions gifted to grassroots community nonprofits

HONOLULU, Nov. 4, 2022 – Hawaiian Electric has contributed a total of $11,000 in donations and additional support to three West Oahu nonprofit organizations for their Christmas festivities that will brighten the holidays for the community. Donations varied amongst the nonprofits based on the event scope.

  • On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Waianae Coast Community Foundation’s First Annual Nanakuli Christmas Lights will be held at the Nanakuli Village Center, 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. The event will feature food, crafts, entertainment from Nanakuli Homestead and family activities including a Christmas presentation by Nanakuli High School, a coloring contest involving area schools and a kupuna tent.
  • After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Waianae Coast Community Christmas Parade returns on Saturday, Dec. 10, with the theme “Imagine – Together We Can.” The parade begins 10 a.m. at the Waianae Boat Harbor, proceeds east on Farrington Highway through Waianae Town and ends at the Waianae Mall. The event is sponsored by the Waianae Coast Rotary Club with support from local businesses.
  • Ahupuaa O Nanakuli Homestead will hold its “Christmas on the Avenue 2022 Kalikimaka Ma Ke Alanui” on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., along Nanakuli Avenue. The street fair will include food and craft vendors from within the Nanakuli Homestead along with homegrown entertainment. The event brings together community, business and private partners in a safe setting to promote aloha and unity.
