Hawaiian Electric volunteers will support the event by assisting with a variety of improvement projects, including painting interior walls and hallways, power washing sidewalks, cleaning and restoring outdoor planter areas, cleaning ceiling fans and floors, cleaning and painting stairways and handrails, and painting a mural in the men’s shelter.

Nearly 48 years ago, Father Claude DuTeil and his wife, Tutu Bert, began handing out peanut butter sandwiches, coffee and compassion to neighbors on Smith Street who had nowhere else to turn. What started as a simple act of kindness grew into what is now IHS Hawaii.
