Request for Proposals – Oahu Fuels

RFP OPEN AS OF 06/30/2021 - PROPOSALS ARE DUE 08/13/2021

On June 30, 2021 Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. (“Hawaiian Electric”) issued a request for proposal (“RFP”) for the supply and delivery of up to 6.4 million barrels per year of low sulfur fuel oil (“LSFO”) for a term of three (3) years and one (1) month to commence delivery beginning January 1, 2023 and ending on January 31, 2026 for generation at Hawaiian Electric’s Kahe and Waiau power plants, situated on the island of Oahu, Hawaii (referred throughout the RFP as “Oahu Fuel").

The submission deadline for the Oahu Fuels proposals is 4:30 PM, HST, August 13, 2021, with the goal of submitting a proposed agreement to the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission for approval by December 2021. To access the RFP documents, please click on the links below:

Completed proposals must be submitted electronically to FuelsRFP@hawaiianelectric.com by 4:30 PM, HST, August 13, 2021 deadline. Questions may also be submitted to this same email address. Responses will be posted to the website for all Bidders to view. Please submit questions no later than August 10, 2021.
