Where can I get details about job postings?

  • Details about the job duties and requirements are included in the job posting.
  • To learn more about the position posted or for the status of an application, contact the HR Service Center ( or 543-4848).
  • A resume is not required to complete the online application.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee an interview.
  • Positions posted externally (on are posted for a minimum of five (5) calendar days. The length of the external posting is determined by the hiring supervisor.
  • If an external applicant has not heard from the company within six (6) weeks of submitting their application, the applicant is not a finalist for the position.
  • External applicants are able to reset their password using the "Forgot Password" function.

I'm interested in applying for a job. What should I do?

First time users:

  • Click "iRecruitment".
  • "Register Today" to create an external account.
  • Enter applicable information to create an account.
  • Optionally upload a resume.
  • Click "Jobs".
  • Search Company.
  • View available jobs.
  • Click "Apply Now" to apply for position interested in.
  • Update information as needed.
  • Click "Submit"

If you have applied with us before:

  • Please click the link to our iRecruitment site and log in.
  • If you cannot remember if you created an account in the past, please do not create another account and contact the HR Service Center at 543-4848 or by email at
  • Applicant should provide the following:
    • First and last name
    • Contact information (i.e., phone number or email)
    • Username, if known

Experiencing Technical Difficulties:

Applicants who are experiencing technical difficulties should call the HR Service Center at 543-4848 or email at and provide the following:

  • Screen shot of error message
  • What specifically did prior to receiving the error message (i.e., clicked "Next")
  • What trying to do
  • Contact information (i.e., phone number or email)

How do I search for jobs?

Applicants can search for jobs on iRecruitment and selecting "Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc." in the drop-down box and clicking on "Search."  If there is not an option to select "Hawaiian Electric Company," then applicants should:

  • Select "More" in the drop-down box. (Note: if a pop-up box does not appear, then the pop-up must be temporarily allowed.)
  • Type in "Hawaiian Electric Company" in the box next to "Location"
  • Click "Go"
  • Select "Hawaiian Electric Company"
  • Click "Go" to view the job vacancies

What is my user ID?

  • Your User ID is your e-mail address, which was used when you first created an account.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

  • If you forgot your password, select the "Forgot the password" link on the sign-in page.
  • Type in your "User ID," which is your e-mail address
  • Click "Next"
  • Retype your email address
  • Click "Next"
  • Create and "Confirm a New Password"
  • Click "Finish"

How do I upload my resume?

  • After logging in to the iRecruitment, select "My Account" under the "Home" tab
  • Under "Resume," select the "Upload Resume" button
  • Use the "Browse" button to locate the file path for your resume
  • Click "Continue"

Am I required to take a test to be considered for employment?

  • All entry-level Bargaining unit positions require pre-employment testing
  • The required tests are listed on the Job Standards
  • Pre-employments tests are usually conducted in-person at the Honolulu Club on Ward Avenue
  • If an applicant requires an accommodation for pre-employment testing, he/she should call the HR Service Center at 543-4848 or email at

I have taken my test. Where can I view my scores to see if I passed?

Applicants who passed a test

  • The applicant number for external applicants that passed the test will be listed on the company's Employment Testing page, located in the Careers section.
  • Internal applicants will be notified by phone or email of their test results
  • Passing scores on Edison Electric Institute (EEI) aptitude tests (e.g., SASS, CAST, POSS, TECH, MASS) are valid for five (5) years from the date the applicant took the test
  • Passing scores for non-EEI tests (e.g., BAPT, SRA, PSI) are valid for one (1) year from the date the applicant took the test
  • When an applicant is hired into a position, the aptitude tests required for the position they were hired into is good for the length of the employee's career

Applicants who did not pass a test

  • External applicants that did not pass the test will not see their applicant number on the company's Employment Testing page, located in the Careers section.
  • Internal applicants will be notified by phone or email of their test results.
  • There is a six (6) month waiting period before an applicant can retake a test. However, an applicant must first apply for a position online then the applicant may be invited to take the required tests.
  • Skills tests, such as typing, ten-key, and the SRA, do not have a six (6) month waiting period to retest. The skills tests may be immediately retaken as long as there is another vacancy, the person applies for it, and is chosen for testing.
