With potentially less rainfall in the months ahead, Hawaiian Electric is encouraging customers across the state to take steps now to prepare their homes and families for potential wildfire and emergency conditions. The company is also continuing targeted efforts to strengthen its electric systems, including recently announced pole hardening work in Lahaina.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser has corrected an Aug. 6 story that inaccurately described an action by Hawaiian Electric related to the procurement of new generation resources. Hawaiian Electric didn’t ask the Public Utilities Commission for approval to build a 500-megawatt power plant.

Areas of concern include West Maui, Omaopio and the Pulehu and Maalaea area in Central Maui, and South Kohala on Hawaii Island.
