Trust for Public Land Hosts A Day on the Land at MAO Organic Farms

Today, Trust for Public Land (TPL) brought together over 130 community volunteers for its annual A Day on the Land at MAO Organic Farms. The event invited participants from across 11 local companies to work the land and learn about the community-led food movement to care for the aina and improve Hawaii’s self-sufficiency.

Scheduled overnight outage in north Kohala on June 26

Hawaiian Electric announces an overnight power outage that will affect customers in parts of north Kohala. The outage is scheduled to start at about 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, and end at about 6 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025. The affected communities are Hawi, Kapaau and Halaula, as well as customers along Kohala Mountain Road from mile markers 6-9 and 11-19. The Kohala Ranch subdivision will not be affected.

New toll-free numbers to report outages on Hawaii Island and Maui County

Hawaiian Electric is improving its outage reporting system on Hawaii Island and in Maui County. As part of the new system, the current phone numbers to report outages will be replaced with new toll-free numbers, effective May 8, 2025.

Hawaiian Electric hosts emergency preparedness open houses

With hurricane and wildfire season coming up, Hawaiian Electric is hosting two emergency preparedness open house events to help prepare residents and their communities. Each event will feature presentations by Hawaiian Electric, Maui Emergency Management Agency, Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization and the Maui Fire Department along with resource tables representing various community partner agencies who will share vital information on how residents can plan and get ready in the event of an emergency.
