The number of private solar systems on Hawaiian Electric’s grids rose to nearly 97,000 last year, fueled by customer incentives offered by the company, an extension of federal tax credits for solar and rising electricity rates.

New pilot program to offer lower rate as incentive for businesses, building owners to host EV chargers

A new Hawaiian Electric pilot program aimed at encouraging greater electric vehicle adoption will reduce the cost for commercial customers to provide EV charging at locations such as office buildings, fleet facilities, shopping malls and condominiums.

Hawaiian Electric to issue $2 million in ‘Kokua Fund’ one-time bill credits to past-due customers

Hawaiian Electric will apply $2 million in bill credits for customers who have struggled to pay their electric bill during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Kokua Fund Bill Credit Program will automatically provide a one-time credit of $90 to past-due balances for about 22,000 residential and business customers by Jan. 31.

Solar hits new milestone with over 1,000 megawatts now online on five islands served by Hawaiian Electric

A total of 1,019 megawatts of solar capacity has been integrated into Hawaiian Electric grids as of Dec. 31, 2021, a major milestone as the company works to cut carbon emissions from power generation 70% by 2030.
